January 22, 2018

In this day and age, there isn’t a type of business that won’t benefit from improved security. However, certain types of businesses and establishments need more security than others. Certain types of establishments are more vulnerable to theft, trespassing, and other security breaches. Here is a list of the types of establishments that require a more advanced security plan.

Healthcare Facilities

Healthcare facilities are frequent targets of theft and other issues. Because anyone can enter a hospital, it is difficult to keep the building secure, meaning an added level of security is needed. Security cameras with remove video monitoring are essential in hospitals. These cameras can help keep track of any suspicious activity in order to catch criminals in the act. They will also provide footage that can be presented to the police when an incident occurs. Hospitals can also benefit from access control to limit access to certain areas that contain valuable equipment. Often times, healthcare facilities also have security officers to protect the building and deter threats.

Corporate Headquarters

Corporate headquarters are often vulnerable to data theft, perimeter issues, and unauthorized visitors. For this reason, integrated access control systems that limit and monitor access to various parts of the headquarters are very valuable. Keyless entry controlled by ID cards can help monitor access to different areas. Video analytics software can help make sense of the footage captured by surveillance cameras and identify threats as well as possible security vulnerabilities. In larger corporate headquarters, especially those made up of multiple buildings, patrolling security officers can be very valuable to monitor suspicious activity and protect the area.

Warehouses

Warehouses contain a large volume of valuable equipment and goods. They are one of the most important parts of the chain of commerce. They often occupy a very large area without enough manpower to monitor every inch. Therefore, warehouses are very vulnerable to theft and trespassing. Surveillance systems are essential to monitor warehouses and keep them safe. Security officers, especially at night, are also valuable assets to protect the goods held inside a warehouse.

College Campuses

College campuses are typically open, making it very difficult to control who enters and exits. For this reason, heightened security is important to protect students and faculty. Detailed visitor management systems can help keep track of entry, as well as security guards posted by entrances and patrolling the campus. Surveillance cameras and a security system are essential, but college campuses should use a campus wide security system that is completely integrated between buildings. A system of this nature will allow better monitoring of the campus and help assess potential threats.

Retail and Big Box Stores

Retail and big box stores are especially vulnerable to theft. Cameras along with constant monitoring of surveillance equipment are essential to catch thieves in the act and prevent theft. During big sales or particularly busy seasons such as the holidays, security guards can help monitor retail establishments, watch for shoplifters, and deter theft.

Large Apartment Buildings

Large apartment complexes and buildings often require an extra layer of security. Between the apartments themselves and parking structures, there are many opportunities for trespassing and theft. Access control systems including intercoms can be very valuable to keep these areas safe. Remote package management systems, including features such as a separate package room for delivery that does not allow entry to the main building, can help protect these buildings. Cameras to monitor activity are important as well. Security officers or doormen can add another layer of security that will deter trespassers and deny entry to unauthorized individuals.
